No. 3 Alabama (13-1) got home runs from Cassandra Reilly-Boccia, Kelley Montalvo and Charlotte Morgan, all in a five-run second inning. Boccia's shot was the first of her career.
The Crimson Tide had nine hits in all, including two by Brittany Rogers. The junior leadoff hitter finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, an RBI and one of five steals for Alabama.
No. 19 SIU (11-1) managed only two hits off Morgan, who went the distance. The junior left-hander struck out three and walked four to run her record to 5-1 on the year.
Alabama's game with Virginia Tech set for Friday afternoon was rained out and will not be made up. The Crimson Tide faces Houston at 4 p.m. Saturday, then plays Michigan at 6 p.m.
