Practice Report: Peek runs short pass routes

After one day of practice this week, it looks promising for Colin Peek.

The senior tight end, a valuable weapon in Alabama’s passing attack, is recovering from a sprained knee suffered on Oct. 24 and went through some light individual work Monday afternoon during the Tide’s shells-only practice at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility.

The 6-foot-6, 255-pounder, sporting a brace on his left knee, spent the brief media viewing period running a few short routes under the supervision of strength and conditioning coach Scott Cochran.

Peek limped slightly walking around just prior to working with Cochran but showed no obvious shortcomings once he began running his short pass patterns. The Florida native, who was isolated from the rest of his teammates while working out, wore a regular white jersey instead of a black non-contact jersey – another good sign that he appears to be on schedule to be ready for LSU on Saturday.

Another point of interest in practice this week is the work of linebackers Courtney Upshaw, Chavis Williams and Jerrell Harris. The Alabama coaches have been making a concerted effort recently to develop them as pass rushers and perhaps ...
