Florida Athletics Director Jeremy Foley wants assurances that Virginia Commonwealth head coach Anthony Grant would be available should Billy Donovan leave, according to The Gainesville Sun.

Grant, the first coach Alabama has spoken with regarding its head coaching job, was in Tuscaloosa yesterday and returned to Richmond last night where sources say he was mulling over accepting the job at Alabama.

Alabama was reportedly giving Grant time to make a decision regarding his future. While it seems as though no official offer has been made, Alabama officials have informed Grant that the job is his if he wants it.

Donovan’s name has been linked to the Kentucky head coaching position even though as of Thursday, Kentucky Athletics Director Mitch Barnhardt still hadn’t made a decision regarding current Wildcats head coach Billy Gillespie’s future.

Grant, who was Florida’s top choice when Donovan flirted with the Orlando Magic in 2007, was an assistant at Florida for 10 years under Donovan and is from Miami.
