Practice Report – O-Line Focus
At first look of the radar today and the clouds moving in it appeared as though the Tide would be continuing Arkansas preparations in the Hank Crisp indoor practice facility. However, Alabama was in full pads during the last media viewing session of the week on under the open cloudy skies.
Ryan Kelly was in his third day of practice after his knee injury but don’t look for him to take back over the reign of the O-line just yet. Coach Nick Saban made an earlier statement that “My sense of it is he’ll be available to play in the game if he doesn’t have a setback and we’re hopeful we can get through practice without that happening.” Chad Lindsay came in mid-way through the Ole Miss game and the offensive line has performed well under his direction. The competition between the two should be interesting to see who gets the start or the majority of the playing time.
Staying on the offensive side of the ball, true freshman Grant Hill from Huntsville is earning more playing time as the season goes along. He seemed to warrant a little extra “coaching” during practice today from OL coach Mario Cristobol.
There have been several true freshman that have contributed to the success of the Crimson Tide this season. One of those impact players is defensive lineman A’Shawn Robinson, he was performing well during drills and appears to be on track for another solid game against Arkansas. Corner back Eddie Jackson was working in the pass defense drills today and was only second in line behind starter Deion Belue. He didn’t appear to be favoring anything from an injury which may have been part of why he was kept out of the game against Kentucky.
Still no word on suspended safety HaHa Clinton-Dix but he was still, as he has been since his suspension started, out with the secondary going through drills.’’
