Alabama Starts Preparations for Arkansas
The Alabama Crimson Tide not only kicked off preparations for Arkansas on Monday but the second half of the season as well. The Tide practiced for two-hours in helmets, shoulder pads and shorts on the two back fields of the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility under mostly sunny skies and around 80 degrees.
During the entire 5:34 that was allowed for viewing of today’s practice, the most noticeable was that Ryan Kelly was back on the practice field. Kelly injured his knee with a “stretched” MCL during the second quarter against Ole Miss and has been rehabbing for the past couple of weeks. This has been the first time that he has been on the practice field that we have seen, since that game. He didn’t seem to show any signs of the injury as he was jogging between drills and executing those drills without any problems.
The running backs were on the opposite corner of the practice field going through drills as normal. However Coach Burton Burns seemed a little more agitated than normal, most likely due to the mistakes made against Kentucky.
The only other most notable item during the brief period was that everyone wants to be AJ McCarron and CJ Mosley or at least it seemed that way today. The scout team will typically wear the numbers of the opposing team’s key personnel and today the quarterbacks Luke Del Rio, Cooper Bateman and Parker McLeod wore that of Arkansas’ QB Brandon Allen ( No. 10) while Derrick Henry and Altee Tenpenny wore that of Arkansas RB Jonathan Williams (No. 32). On the defensive side of the ball Michael Newsome word that of Arkansas’ defensive end Trey Flowers (No. 86).
Several people were asking about CB Eddie Jackson and why he wasn’t playing on Saturday after playing very well for the past few games. Those people will be glad to know that he was back at practice this week and he didn’t seem to be bothered at all by the injured ankle he suffered during Georgia State.
