Another Trip to Dallas for the Tide in 2015
The Crimson Tide started off the 2012 Championship season in Arlington, Texas against the Michigan Wolverines. Well, Alabama is now set to kick off the 2015 season against another Big 10 opponent in Cowboys Stadium on September 15th. The Alabama football team will face Wisconsin to open the 2015 season for the “Cowboys Stadium Classic” with television network coverage and kickoff time to be determined at a later date.
The seventh annual Cowboys Classic will be just the second meeting ever between these storied programs. Wisconsin won the only previous game, a 15-0 victory in 1928. This will mark Wisconsin’s first visit to Cowboys Stadium.
Alabama has has played in neutral site regular season games in the last four out of six seasons and has two more on the schedule over the next two years. The Tide played Florida State in Jacksonville in 2007 as well as Clemson (2008) and Virginia Tech (2009) in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff in Atlanta, and then Michigan (2012) in Arlington. Alabama heads back to Atlanta for a Chick-fil-A Kickoff rematch against Virginia Tech to start the 2013 season and again in 2014 against West Virginia.
Cowboy’s Stadium Kickoff:
The 2015 game will mark the seventh contest in the Cowboys Classic series with ESPN. Each match-up has featured nationally ranked teams with BYU upsetting the University of Oklahoma 14-13 in 2009, TCU knocking off Oregon State 30-21 in 2010, LSU defeating Oregon 40-27 in 2011 and Alabama burying Michigan 41-14 in 2012. LSU and TCU will face off in the 2013 matchup and Florida State and Oklahoma State will square off in 2014.
