Homecoming at Alabama
The Million Dollar Band has also been busy this week in its preparations for homecoming. MDB members rehearsed this week for their pregame performance and homecoming halftime show where the 2012 University of Alabama Homecoming Court will be announced and the Homecoming Queen will be presented. The songs for the halftime show this week will include “Stars Fell On Alabama,” the Alma Mater, and Yea Alabama. Also, this week the MDB practiced recording some of its music to be placed on a Million Dollar Band CD that will be released with MDB halftime performance songs, stand tunes, and cheers from this year and will be available for fans to purchase.The Million Dollar Band will be participating in a pep rally and bonfire tonight, October 26th, at 7 pm in front of Gorgas Library. The Million Dollar Band will be performing a few cheers accompanied by the University of Alabama Cheerleaders to get the fans pumped up for UA’s Homecoming against Mississippi State. The Crimson Tide football team and coach Nick Saban will be making an appearance at tonight’s pep rally as well as the Homecoming Court and SGA members. A bonfire set up on the quad will be lit immediately following the pep rally for fans and students to attend.
On Saturday, the annual Homecoming Parade will kick off at 2 p.m. The parade will begin in downtown Tuscaloosa,moving through The Strip, and onto UA campus. The parade will consist of local teams and clubs, sorority floats, Big Al and the UA Cheerleaders, and of course The Million Dollar Band. The MDB will be playing the cadence and fight song throughout the parade to get the fans excited for the game. The Elephant Stomp pep rally will begin at 6:30 where the MDB will be playing cheers on the steps of Gorgas Library. Following Elephant Stomp, the MDB will line up to march into the stadium for the Homecoming game against undefeated #11 Mississippi State. The MDB pregame performance wil begin at approximately 7:20 followed by a 7:40 pm kickoff.
