What you missed during the bye week

A lot goes on when the Alabama football teams has a bye week; many sports competed over the weekend and proved that ‘Bama has much more than football to offer.

 

Alabama Women’s Golf showed off their skills in Athens Georgia finishing second in the Liz Murphey Fall Preview. The talented ladies were just 4 shots behind North Carolina and beat Auburn and USC on the University of Georgia’s par 72, 6,335-yard course.

 

Alabama Swimming and Diving beat Delta State on Saturday during the season opener in Tuscaloosa. The women celebrated Head Coach Dennis Pursley’s tenure by sweeping 16 events and the men by sweeping 14. The Tide travels to Auburn AL next weekend for its SEC competition of the season.

 

Alabama Men’s Tennis won 12 total matches during the Tom Falton Invitational. Becker O’Shaughnessey and Jarryd Botha beat players from Michigan and Michigan State on Sunday in South Bend Indiana. They will play again in two weeks in Auburn, AL for the USTA/ITA Southern Regional Championships.

 

Alabama Soccer lost to Arkansas after four matches in Fayetteville, Ark. The weekend ended with the Tide losing 3-1, which leaves them with a 7-5-2 record overall. Alabama will host Mississippi State and Missouri next weekend.

 

Alabama Women’s Volleyball lost to the Missouri Tigers 3-1 on Sunday in Tuscaloosa. The loss moves the ladies to 13-6 overall and 2-5 in the SEC. Missouri forced 26 hitting errors on Alabama with 11 blocks. They will head to Colombia S.C. this Friday to play South Carolina and Baton Rouge LA Sunday to play LSU.
