Alabama volleyball improves to 3-1, set to take on North Carolina Central

The Alabama volleyball team improved to 3-1 on the young 2012 season on Tuesday by knocking off in-state foe Alabama A&M in the Tide’s home opener at Foster Auditorium. The Tide won the match in straight sets, 3-0.

The Crimson Tide came out strong in the first set recording a 25-11 score to set the tone for the rest of the evening. After that, the Tide did not have much trouble. The Tide won the second set by the same score and won the final set of the match by a score of 25-12.

Junior Andrea McQuaid led the Crimson Tide with 11 points on the evening. She recorded seven kills on 17 attempts and had an attacking percentage of .412. Sophomore Pricilla Duke-Ezeji led the Tide with eight kills.

The Crimson Tide will return to the court on Friday when they take on North Carolina Central at the Elon Phoenix Classic. That game will begin at 3:30 p.m. CT. Alabama will take the rest of the day off after the match against North Carolina Central before returning to the court on Saturday to face Gardner-Webb at 9 a.m. CT and Elon at 6 p.m. CT.

The Tide’s next home game will be held next Friday, September 7 at 11:30 a.m. CT at Foster Auditorium when the Tide hosts Lamar in the Hampton Inn Bama Bash.
