Alabama posts high APR scores
Each year the NCAA releases a set of numbers known as an Academic Progress Rate, or APR. This data is intended to show the rate of success for a school’s athletic department in terms of graduation rates.
On Wednesday the Tide’s scores came out, and Alabama did quite well. The Tide’s scores did not move too much in comparison to last year’s rates, but there were still some phenomenal numbers.
Men’s basketball posted a 984 which was second in the Southeastern Conference behind Ole Miss. Alabama football posted a 970 which was good enough for third in the conference.
Two Alabama programs were recognized by the NCAA for posting perfect scores on Wednesday. The Crimson Tide’s women’s golf team and women’s tennis team both earned an NCAA Public Recognition award for its perfect scores of 1,000.
This award is given to any program that is within the top 10 percent of its sport. The Tide’s women’s golf team won the award last year, but this is the women’s tennis team’s first time receiving the honor.
