Mitchell, Green will participate in NBA Draft combine in Chicago

They’re all fighting for the same thing.

Sixty players with aspirations of playing in the NBA have been invited to the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, and two Alabama players made the list. JaMychal Green and Tony Mitchell will both be in attendance when the combine is conducted in Chicago on June 7-8.

The NBA lottery will be determined on May 30, and by the time the combine begins the top players in the draft will already have a decent understanding about where they will be drafted. That likely won’t be the case for Green or Mitchell.

The two former Alabama players will be fighting to improve their draft stock in order to earn a spot in the NBA.

While Mitchell has been working out and fine-tuning his skills to present to NBA scouts, Green is coming off a phenomenal outing at the Portsmouth Invitational, a tournament full of budding NBA talent vying for a chance to turn professional scout’s heads.

Green played in three games during the invitational and performed quite nicely. During his first game, Green shot 4-for-9 from the field, 10-for-10 from the line, pulled in nine rebounds and scored 18 points. That’s the type of performance Alabama fans grew accustomed to during Green’s tenure in Tuscaloosa, but it was his second game that really started impressing scouts. Green scored 29 points on 14-for-18 shooting from the field and only one three free throw attempt. He also pulled down 10 rebounds. His final game wasn’t too bad, either. Green recorded another double-double by pulling 10 more rebounds down and scoring 11 points.

According to numerous scouting sources, Green is projected as a second round draft choice as of now. Mitchell is not very high on many draft boards as of yet, but the combine and individual workouts with teams will be a fantastic chance for Tony to show what he can bring to the table. Both Mitchell and Green worked out for the Brooklyn Nets recently.

CrimsonConfidential.com will have continuing coverage of the NBA Draft combine and all developments with Green and Mitchell.
